This post brought to you by the former constitution

We’ve traveled back in time my friend. In places our country isn’t bombing, Big Brother stares judgmentally at you through your phone.

There is so little care about the scrutiny, and the man who tries to break the silence is punished somewhere secretly by the government.  We all knew he would be punished.  We all knew those brave enough to protest would be taken away.

We, ladies and gentlemen, are living in 1984.  Keep your poetry to yourselves, do not buy quaint little knickknacks, fear storeowners, and do as your television commands.

And yet, we are not living then.  We are not all dressed in coveralls and abstinence is merely something for schools.  We are in 2013, a time when the criminals are not sent to be rehabilitated to learn that 2 plus 2 is whatever the government demands, but in a world where people try to execute them.  We live in a dystopia where those in power such as Donald Trump declares he does not wish to waste time with trials, and demands ‘spy’ Edward Snowden be killed.

What sad tale are we living?  Is it our complacency?  Are we driven to find excitement and ignorant of the flaws of our society that walk past us?  Are we too afraid?

Personally, I believe we feel we are lost.  We need direction and a real leader to aid us in rising against the bloodthirsty ones we have now.

If I’m right, you’ll never see this post.
