Thor Loser

Oh, Marvel. You were doing so well, even when not compared to DC. You gave us a Pakistani-American who was well-written, stood up for She-Hulk, and you let a black guy be Captain America for a while (we all know Steve is going to come back and take his title back).

What happened to you?

Now, I'm not complaining that Thor is female. Thor has been a woman before, it was just still, well, Thor with an X chromosome instead of a Y (or whatever the Norse gods have).

I'm complaining that some woman who is not Thor is now Thor. This confusion never happened when an alien named Beta Ray Bill could wield Mjolnir; his name was Beta Ray Bill. It never changed to Thor. A frog touched a piece of Mjolnir and became the Mighty Frog, not Thor. Thor as a woman was still Thor. So why is a woman who was never named Thor now called Thor?

Hut hey, why can't Marvel go back to its origins? Why not go back to the same way Donald Black used to become Thor?

...Because they didn't. The original Thor is still Thor, just no the wielder or the hammer, whose name is Thor when—I'm sorry, I've gone cross-eyed.

Marvel has given their readers some great females in he past. From She-Hulk who is happy with her large body, torn clothes, and is a professional lawyer; to Ms. Marvel who is an airplane captain and outranks Captain America in the military. But they've never needed to be special or different from the men to show that they could be their equals or even superiors. This female Thor should be no exception. When you make a woman a special snowflake like this, it demeans her and others; you're saying 'you're a woman, so we have to take special care of you'.

Screw that. She throws lightning. How delicate can she be?

The MRU could always use more readers and writers.
